Job Description

Location: Sydney, Australia

The Director, Compensation is responsible for overseeing the Company’s broad-based compensation programs and leading a small team of compensation professionals. As the head of broad-based compensation, they will be responsible for overseeing our non-executive pay programs across the company and ensure they meet our aims to reward equitably for performance and to attract and retain top talent. The successful incumbent is also the compensation business partner for the Commercial organization.


- Lead a small team of highly skilled compensation professionals and ensure their success
- Manage and monitor the health of non-executive compensation programs to ensure their aims are met
- Recommend changes to our compensation programs to the head of Total Rewards based on data or trends to ensure we can attract, retain, and engage top talent
- Partner with the head of Total Rewards for Europe to ensure they receive global support on their local needs and that our programs are administered consistently around the world
- Ensure that our internal customers (HRBPs, HRPPs, Recruiters, HR Operations, Managers, etc.) are satisfied with the service provided by the compensation team and work to resolve concerns and roadblocks
- Together with the head of Total Rewards, refine or reset our compensation strategy to support the needs of the business
- Be the face of compensation for our employees broadly through communications, training, and presentations
- Oversee the compensation and equity planning processes for the company
- Support the Commercial sales compensation team with market data, insights, and input into plan design and approach
- Be the compensation consultant for the Commercial team
- Act as an internal consultant to recruiting staff and business partners, regarding compensation programs, policies, and practices, and partner with them to resolve issues
- Present to senior leaders from time to time to either inform them or gain their support for desired changes
- Lead company-wide compensation projects as needed
- Build relationships with executives to ensure the programs are meeting their needs
- Build compensation acumen in the company by training managers and employees on our compensation programs
- Oversee the communications of our plans, their rules, and the way they are administered and support employees and the company

Ideal Candidate & Qualifications

- Minimum of 10 years of compensation-related experience with 15 years in HR or related field
- Prior management experience
- Experience in progressively difficult roles/assignments
- Track record of successful business partner relationships
- Experience in building proactive compensation strategies for client groups
- Advanced Excel knowledge
- Excellent oral, written, mathematical, and project management skills with adherence to deadlines
- Working knowledge of HRIS, preferably Ultimate Software, or a comparable system. Experience with Success Factors Compensation Planning tool a plus
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of federal and state wage and salary laws and regulations
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deal effectively in a team environment and with all levels of management


- MBA or advanced degree preferred
